Plumbing permits are required for all work which must conform to the New York State Fire Protection and Building Code. Exceptions to the requirement for plumbing permit may be allowed for the performance of necessary repairs, i.e. leak repairs, fixture replacement, and/or ordinary repairs to a plumbing system which do not include an addition to, alteration of, replacement of, or relocation of any water supply, drainage or vent piping. Even so, all new work must comply with the New York State Fire Protection and Building Code.
