Created in 1998, the Department of Planning and Economic Development was created to establish a vehicle for local government to guide the economic future of the City.  Encompassing planning, grants, downtown activities, Code Enforcement, business recruitment and the City's loan programs, the Department brings together similar activities in a central location for better customer service.  Since 1998, its accomplishments have included the creation of the City's first Master Plan, obtaining several million dollars in grants, streamlining of permit and loan procedures, and assistance in bringing several downtown organizations under the direction of the Gaffer District.

 

Ultimately, the Department of Planning and Economic Development works to maintain and enhance a high quality of life within the City of Corning.  All of its work is geared toward making Corning an exceptional place to live, visit, work and play.
