ASSESSMENT OFFICE
The primary responsibility of the Assessment Office to maintain equitable assessments and authorize property tax exemptions throughout the City. The Assessor is required to administer the assessment roll in accordance with New York State Real Property Tax Law, the City Charter, and rules and regulations promulgated by the New York State Board of Real Property Services. The assessment roll and property inventory data is maintained using the Real Property System (RPS) developed by the New York State Office of Real Property Services (ORPS). Formal assessment appeals are considered by the Board of Assessment Review(BOR), a five-member administrative review panel.

2010 COMPLAINTS
The 2009 final assessment roll was filed June 2, 2009. The timeframe for 2009 complaints has ended. The 2009 assessment roll will be used for 7/1/09 city taxes, 10/01/09 school taxes and 01/01/10 county taxes. If you would like an informal reviw for 2010, use the below link:

- March 26 Informal Review Deadline
- April 1 Tentative Assessment Roll Filed
- May 3 Formal Hearing/Written Complaint Filing With BOR
- June 1 Final Assessment Roll Filed
